Outfit planning for busy days

We probably all know these days where you have a thousand things to do and feel like you don't have time for anything. And the last thing you want to do is spend hours in front of your closet, wondering what to wear, because you really just want to keep on your pyjamas.

To be honest, this is basically me all the time. Thankfully, I have worked out a little routine when it comes to picking out my clothes in order to prevent minor break downs every single morning. And I would like to share it with you in this post:

Outfit planning for busy days

1. Stick to your go-to pieces.

Don't try to be stylish and just go for comfort. And to prevent you from actually walking out of the house in your pyjamas, be sure to have cute and comfortable pieces in your closet! Since I know my need for comfort, I always keep that in mind while shopping and try to get items in soft materials that still look really good.
And: don't wear clothes that require your attention during the day, or won't stay in place on their own. Just don't. Actually, you shouldn't even buy those in the first place. They need to grow up and be able to take care of themselves.

2. If you want to wear something new, try it on first.

Basically try on every outfit that you haven't worn before, even if it's just a new combination of old favourites. That way you'll avoid those situations where you threw on your favourite boyfriend jeans and over-sized shirt and suddenly look like a homeless person.

3. Check the weather.

This is pretty straight forward, but nothing is worse than looking forward to wearing a jeans-and-sweater outfit and then realising that it's actually 38°C outside. Yep, that happened to me so many times.

4. Plan one or two "just in case" outfits.

Just in case you don't feel like wearing the outfits you planned. Because sometimes you think that you're going to want to wear that skirt in the morning when actually, all you want is jeans and a sweater. (Again, so me. I'm obsessed, sorry).

5. Don't forget about shoes!

Nothing is worse than having the perfect, comfortable outfit for the day and then realising that you have no shoes to go with it. And then hating your outfit for the rest of the day anyway.

6. Don't try adding jewelry you're not used to wearing.

I always wear the same jewelry every single day, and anytime I add a new ring, bracelet or necklace, it ends up driving me crazy. Is it just me? I feel like every single post on the same subject tells you to play with accessories to spice up a basic outfit, but that just doesn't work for me at all.

7. Don't wear white if you know you're going to spill something on it.

Basically, don't buy anything white if you're as clumsy as me. I feel like white shirts tend to last like a day with me, because I'm bound to spill soya sauce on them no matter what. Even if I don't eat it that day...

8. Cut down your makeup routine.

I've actually been working on this for the past couple of weeks - you really can achieve the same results with less products and thus in less time! I like to skip foundation and just go for concealer, use my bronzer too add a little colour to my eyes instead of going for a whole eye shadow look and use tinted chap-stick instead of lipstick because you can put it on on the train.
